VSLA (VILLAGE SAVINGS LOANS ASSOCIATION)


The Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) program empowers rural communities in northern Uganda to take control of their personal finances for the first time. Each member of the group saves, takes out loans, repays loans with interest, and invests.

VSLA participants have been known to save money for their children’s education, start a small business. Now this program is even more closely linked to the rehabilitation and reintegration of former’ local traditional healers through VSLA groups focused on facilitating saving and lending for members of the communities to which they are.


The Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) program began in 2014 with its close patterns of wild forest and fauna and is comprised of a group of rural women of about 150 women who meet once a week with the goal of saving.
